Our platform is one of inclusivity, health and wellness, and engagement. We all are student leaders in and outside of Undergraduate Student Government and have identified these as the most important issues affecting our campus.
During our time in USG, our ticket has found that housing is a huge issue for our constituents. As members of the downtown Phoenix community, students both affect and are affected by rising rent prices. We will advocate for affordable housing to the Phoenix City Council in order to ensure that students are able to live in and fully engage with the downtown community. ASU Downtown is growing and looking to add 1,000 new students by 2021.We will provide students with a website detailing off-campus housing around the downtown area to help navigate renting an apartment and keep students from living in hotels during their time at ASU.
We will also be focusing on campus nutrition and sexual health. This means expanding the amount of locations that students can use their meal plan at, creating a guide so that students are able to make nutritious decisions and establishing a sexual health pharmacy that includes condoms, lubrication, dental dams and Plan B. This initiative will be free to all students and hosted in the USGD office. We want to model after the “Feminist Pharmacy” that ASUA successfully launched in their student government office.
Finally, we will encourage engagement both civically and on campus. Our term falls on an election year, making it vitally important for students to exercise their rights and vote for a candidate that they believe in. We will be giving students the opportunity to engage with all of their elected officials from USG to the federal level, through events and handouts.
Inclusivity, health and wellness, and engagement are all important aspects of our constituents' experience as well as our own. This is by no means an exhaustive list. If elected, we will constantly identify ways to
improve life at ASU and work to make it happen.
